Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Vocal Against Structural Racism; Asks Britain to Put an End to Structural Racism

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had collectively summoned the British to end Structural Racism. As we know, October is Black History Month, which carries forward the issue of racism all over the world.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle take a stand against Racism

Prince and Meghan had launched a campaign named Anti-Racism Campaign to make a mark on Black History Month in the United Kingdom. Prince Harry stated that London is not as diverse as it seems. He shared his statement with the Evening Standard Newspaper. Harry also added that he wishes to use his celebrity statement to awaken people of what racism is all about and why it is anti-people and not humanitarian. He wishes to point out the challenges and obstacles the Black Community faces daily.

Meghan and Prince in Black Lives Matter Protest

In the interview with the Standard, they added and spoke about the protest in the U.S. named Black Lives Matter. Meghan Markle called the agitation to be beautiful and added why it is needed. Though there has been a protest across the globe, racism is still being practised. So the Anti-Racism campaign is much needed now. Hence the duo has asked the British to end Structural Racism. To make an example on Black History Month.

Normalizing Racism

All over the world, racism has been practised in such a way that it is normalized to vilify a black person, to shame them, or to make them less important. Prince Harry expressed that he understood why Black Lives Matter, because of the relationship he shares with Meghan Markle.

They added in an article they wrote, that this campaign against racism is important because it is education and awareness. Structural Racism has been practised for a long time; hence rejecting structural racism can only destroy racism as a whole. They further added, as long as racism continues to exist, there will be no potentials found from the black community, no equality will be granted to them.

Black History Month

Black History Month dates back to 1915 when slavery was abolished in the United States. Now the month is celebrated as there has been an elongated protest to abolish slavery. It marked as an achievement by African Americans as their central role is U.S history has been acknowledged. Negro History Week is exactly where Black History Month grew from. Countries like the U.K, Canada also dedicate themselves in October to pay tribute to Black Community.
