President Biden and the Israeli military announced that Israeli forces recovered six bodies of Hamas-held hostages in a tunnel of Rafah. Among the six bodies, one was of Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was taken hostage on October 7.
Goldberg-Polin Family Feels Devastated
During the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, Over 1,200 people were killed in Israel and around 250 others were taken as hostages. Around 100 are still in captivity in Hamas custody.
“With broken hearts, the Goldberg-Polin family is devastated to announce the death of their beloved son and brother, Hersh. The family thanks you all for your love and support and asks for privacy at this time,” a family representative said, reported NBC News.
The hostages included Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Master Sgt. Ori Danino. was recognized by the Israeli Military and brought back to the territory.
“I am devastated and outraged,” Biden said in the statement.
“There Might Be Additional Hostages”
As per NBC News, Earlier hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi was rescued on which Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, said “Since Farhan’s identification, the forces have been instructed to act with extra caution, even more so than usual, understanding that there might be additional hostages in the area. We did not have information on the exact location of the hostages.”
During the Supernova music festival terror attack, Goldberg-Polin, 23, was taken hostage and he lost his arm in the blast.
“Make no mistake, Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes. And we will keep working around the clock for a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages,” President Joe Biden said.
Kamala Harris Mourned The Death
Vice President Kamala Harris mourned the death of Goldberg-Polin and said her prayers were with his loved ones and his family.
“The threat Hamas poses to the people of Israel—and American citizens in Israel—must be eliminated and Hamas cannot control Gaza,” Harris said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces pressure as the family of the hostages are pointing him out and warning him to be prepared for tomorrow. The families said they would be blocking the country.
