Robert F. Kennedy Jr. the independent presidential candidate ended his campaign and endorsed Republican Donald Trump, concluding a race that began with his bid as a Democrat, the most popular American political name.
“His Candidacy Has Inspired Millions”
Kennedy joined Trump in Arizona at a campaign event after announcing the endorsement in a press conference. The crowd was seen cheering Kennedy loudly.
“His candidacy has inspired millions and millions of Americans, raised critical issues that have been too long ignored in this country,” Trump said referring to Kennedy
Ahead of the election on November 5, Strategists said it is still vague whether Kennedy’s endorsement would help Trump to win over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
“There are still many issues and approaches on which we continue to have very serious differences. But we are aligned on other key issues,” Kennedy said.
They Both Shared Common Ground
In a conference Kennedy told reporters that he met with Trump and his aides multiple times, discovering that they shared common ground on issues such as border security, free speech, and ending wars. He joined Trump at the Arizona rally and talked about the core issues like combating chronic illness, ridding the environment, and food supply of hazardous chemicals.
Trump with Kennedy’s support said that if he reclaimed the White House then he would establish a presidential commission on assassination attempts and release the files of President John F. Kennedy of 1963 related to the assassination.
In April 2023, Kennedy entered the election race against President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination.
He Betrayed The Family’s Values
Robert Kennedy’s sister Kerry Kennedy said on social media that he betrayed the family’s values as he endorsed Trump. “It is a sad ending to a sad story,”
Robert Kennedy said that he would remove his name from ballots in 10 battleground states that are likely to decide the outcome of the election, remaining in other states as a candidate.
Mary Beth Cahill, a Democratic National Committee senior adviser said “Donald Trump isn’t earning an endorsement that’s going to help build support, he’s inheriting the baggage of a failed fringe candidate. Good riddance,”
As per Reuters Kennedy in exchange for endorsement hopes for a job in a potential Trump administration, a super PAC supporting Kennedy.
