“A cause of American democracy itself must unite to protect it…It’s become clear to me that I need to unite my party in this critical endeavour. I believe my record as President, my leadership in the world, and my vision for America’s future all merit a second term, but nothing, nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy,” he further stated.

President Biden exits from the Presidency race

President Biden, 81, announced his exit after weeks of pressure from Democrats to step aside, in a disastrous debate performance on June 27. He endorsed Kamala Harris calling her a “tough” and “capable” of facing Donald Trump in the upcoming elections

“She’s tough. She’s capable. She’s been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country,” Biden said.

“Nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. That includes personal ambition,” Biden said.

“The great thing about America is here, kings and dictators do not rule. The people do. History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands,” he said.

He also said “ Americans are going to have to choose between moving forward or backward, between hope and hate, between unity and division. We have to decide if we still believe in honesty, decency, respect, freedom, justice and democracy,”
