Balochistan: Gunmen Kill 23, Forcing Victims Out of Vehicles

On Monday, at least 23 people were killed after Gunmen forced the people out of their vehicles and opened fire on them in southwest Pakistan, according to PTI. 

The Killings Occurred In The District Of Balochistan Province 

Ayub Achakzai, a senior officer said The killings took place in the district of Baluchistan province, Musakhail and the attackers set fire on at least 10 vehicles. 

In a different incident, gunmen in Qalat district, Balochistan, killed at least nine people, including four police officers and five civilians, according to authorities.

As per AFP Najibullah Kakar, a senior official in Musakhail said Militants in Balochistan Province, Pakistan, stopped several buses, trucks, and vans, shooting individuals based on their ethnicity in Musakhail district that resulted in five injuries.

“At least 22 people were killed and five injured when militants stopped several busses, trucks and vans on a highway connecting Punjab with Balochistan.”

“Vehicles traveling to and from Punjab were inspected, and individuals from Punjab were identified and shot,” Kakar added.

CM Sarfaraz Bugti Offered Condolences To The Victims’ Families 

“It seems that the BLA (Baloch Liberation Army) terrorists are behind the incident,” Hameed Zehri, another senior official, told AFP confirming that the BLA is the most active militant separatist group in the region.

Sarfaraz Bugti, Balochistan chief minister, offered condolences to the victims of the families, saying that the Balochistan government has vowed to pursue the terrorists responsible for the attack and ensure they face an exemplary end, according to Dawn.

Syed Muhammad Ali told The Associated Press that the latest killings of non-Baluch people are an attempt to economically weakens Baluchistan, “the weakening of Baluchistan means the weakening of Pakistan.”

The Baloch Liberation Army had already alerted people to stay away from the highways but no immediate claim of responsibility has been made for the attack, according to the Associated Press.
