A Detroit-area doctor who worked for over six years, Oumair Aejaz, 40, has been charged over a crime of secretly filming women and children in the hospital using hidden cameras. The police said his “depravity had no limits.”
“Most Disturbing Sexual Predator Cases”
Sheriff Michael Bouchard, the County of Oakland Sheriff’s Office said in a press conference “This is one of the most disturbing sexual predator cases I have seen in my very long career. He violates literally anyone and everyone he can. From a 2-year-old boy to a grown woman, no one is immune from his disgusting predatory behavior.”
The doctor was accused of recording children as young as two and women recovering from operations in various hospital rooms. He secretly kept an eye on people in changing rooms, closets, bathrooms, and bedrooms at hospitals and at a local swim club. He faces 10 charges, including sexual abuse of a child; using a computer to create and/or reproduce child sexual abuse material, and capturing or recording children under 18 and two women while nude, setting a bond at $2 million.
Sheriffs Carried Out a Raid
“At the end of this case, it is my fervent hope that he is held fully accountable behind bars,” Bouchard said
On August 7, sheriffs carried out a raid on the doctor’s home and seized over six computers, four cell phones, and 15 external storage devices. They found that one device contained 13,000 videos dating back six years and estimated it would take at least six months to fully examine all the devices.
“These are children and moms at a swim school,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D.
“They were victimized by a person of trust in the community — a medical doctor,” McDonald added during the news conference.
The Hospital Under Investigation
The hospitals under investigation to which Aejaz had access included Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township and Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township.
“We are shocked by these allegations and take them very seriously. This individual has never been an employee of Henry Ford Health but had privileges at several area hospitals, including Henry Ford Macomb Hospital,” Henry Ford Macomb Hospital said
“The safety of our patients and team members is our top priority and we have taken immediate action to prevent him from practicing at our health system,” He added.
