On Tuesday, A significant 911 outage occurred, affecting several cities of America such as, Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. The outage tracker reported nearly 400 reports at 9:41 p.m. ET and the cause and extent of the outage are still vague, DownDetector reported.
Increased In 911 Outage
The DownDetector received reports of the issue above 20 reports and at 8:18 p.m. ET, a noticeable increase in 911 outage complaints was reported with several individuals experiencing busy lines, dropped calls, or no response. Emergency service providers did not instantly issue statements related to the problem.
A 911 outage occurs when the emergency phone service becomes inaccessible or non-functional, preventing people from reaching emergency responders in urgent situations. This disruption can be caused by many issues including, technical issues, network failures, or software malfunctions.
“We Work To Resolve This Issue”
Amid the outage, people started complaining of network failures on social media. AT&T told FOX TV Stations that they are “working to address a software issue that may affect the ability of a limited number of our customers to connect to our wireless network.”
“Keeping our customers connected is our highest priority, so we appreciate their patience as we work to resolve this issue,” they further stated, confirming that “FirstNet customers are not impacted.”
What Should You Do During The Outage?
During an outage, individuals may encounter busy signals, dropped calls, or no response, leading to delays in emergency assistance which can worsen the severity of incidents. If Individuals are unable to reach 911 then they should try calling the local police, fire, or ambulance departments directly, texting 911 or using social media to alert the authorities.
