Leonardo DiCaprio Would Produce Utopian Series 'Island' Inspired by Aldous Huxley's Novel
Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way Productions is on the way of interweaving a utopian series Island in collaboration with In Good Company Films which draws its inspiration from Aldous Huxley’s novel with the same title.
Now, to go by the deployed themes within the movie, it would necessarily depict human capability as well as freedom.
Aldous Huxley’s Island projects the quest of a dubious journalist discovering a fictional utopian island of Pala situated in the Indian Ocean. The protagonist whose prime motive is to exploit Pala’s natural resources eventually comes to discover an independent society. The engaging expedition makes him embrace its people, their culture and traditions, clubbed with alternative social buildups and experimental adventures. Lastly, the breakthrough episodes bring about a change in the course of the protagonist’s mission.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are expected to executively produce for Appian Way Productions while George DiCaprio and Roee Sharon will join as executive producers on the project. On the other hand, Andrew Alter and Jason Whitmore on behalf of Good Company Films would fulfill the roles of executive producers.
Reports have further stated that Island would serve to explore several ideas and themes of Aldous Huxley from the post-World War II decades.
Appian Way Productions was founded by Leonardo DiCaprio way back in 2004. Its first project namely, The Aviator starred DiCaprio in the lead role. It has also partnered for producing films like Orphan, Red Riding Hood, The Wolf of Wall Street, Delirium, Robin Hood, Richard Jewell, and others. The firm however came to collaborate with Netflix on documentaries such as Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, Catching Sun, The Ivory Game, etc. Their next project happens to be Disney+ drama miniseries, The Right Stuff, which revolves around Tom Wolfe’s 1979s book with the same name.
