Lady Gaga accused of stealing ‘shallow’

The famous Lady Gaga has been accused of copying Songwriter Steve Ronsen’s composition. Lady Gaga has been into the limelight for stealing a composition of Steve Ronsen in her Oscar-winning song “Shallow” which is a hit number from the hit movie “A Star Is Born”. Ronsen claimed the song was released by him in 2012.

The songwriter has sent a legal notice to the nine-time Grammy-winning artist. Ronsen commented that a few notes, specifically, a three-note progression which is used in “Shallow” is based on his song “Almost.” Although, the song has a fewer than 300 streams on SoundCloud the three notes — G, A, B — is the hook of “Shallow.”

However, as per the news, the songwriter and his attorney Mark D. Shirian have asked a hefty amount to settle down the matter. On the other hand, Gaga’s team claimed they got the threat from them to go public over the matter. Gaga has already hired Orin Snyder, the NYC power attorney, who shared that the superstar would not back down.
The backstory

Snyder, however, claimed that the songwriter and his lawyer wanted to make some easy money from the superstar and that is shameful. He further asked lady Gaga to speak up against the matter with courage.

While Ronsen claimed the three-note progression that he wrote has been used in “Shallow,” Gaga’s legal team shared this note progression is pretty common and has been using in many songs since ages. Even, it was used in “Dust In The Wind,” which was released in 1978.

Ronsen, on the other hand, had released a solo album in 2012 and currently the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for a touring band named Nashville band. Although he wasn’t available, his attorney Shirian shared he has already sent an official report from a renowned musicologist and professor to Lady Gaga’s legal team. However, they are yet to receive a response from the superstar’s office.

Meanwhile, “Shallow” was written by Gaga and Mark Ronson and was recorded by Gaga and Bradley Cooper which was released in 2018 and became a superhit.
