Keanu Reeves to Shoot Two Consecutive ‘John Wick’ Movies, Here’s Why?

By now, everyone gets to know that their favourite Keanu Reeves is going to shoot for the next two John wick movies back-to-back. However, it’s not new to any franchise to shoot back-to-back movies not for Reeves as well.

Netflix did it when they announced to shoot The Kissing Booth 2 and The Kissing Booth 3 back-to-back. And amid this situation of COVID-19 pandemic outbreak across the globe, they have something in their kitty already for next year.

Why Keanu Reeves is Ultimately Making Sci-Fi Movies Again?

Back-to-back shooting doesn’t help in cost-cutting

However, the shooting John Wick 4 and John Wick 5 together probably won’t save costs as witnessed in the past as well. While Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest cost $220 million, At World’s End cost a record $300 million too. On the other hand, both Matrix sequels cost around $150 million per which was up from the $60 million-budgeted original Keanu Reeves sci-fi movie. If these are not enough, there are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows 1 and 2 ($250 million-a-pop), Avengers 3 and 4 ($316 million and $356 million) and the Hobbit trilogy ($180 million, $195 million and $250 million) and with this stat, it can be shown as well.

Keanu Reeves as Wolverine: isn’t that exciting?

However, it can be safe to shoot John Wick: Chapter 4 and John Wick: Chapter 5 together in this crunch situation if in case another outbreak takes place and postponed the shoot later. Moreover, shooting together might protect studios from production challenges if in case the studio is needed for another major work as well.

Sequels are helpful financially

While the cost might not be saved while shooting together, people are generally hyped with these back-to-back sequel movies/series and this might be helpful financially.

Seven Interesting Facts About Keanu Reeves

There are many which worked in this trick – Deathly Hallows part 1 and part 2 ($960 million and $1.341 billion), Breaking Dawn part I and part 2 ($689 million and $829 million) and Mockingjay part I and part 2 ($766 million and $649 million) are already in the list.

Even the trick has also worked for back-to-back sequels like Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End ($1.066 billion and $964 million), Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions ($782 million and $427 million), Back to the Future 2 and 3 ($331 million and $244 million) and Infinity War and Endgame ($2.048 billion and $2.8 billion) as well.

Moreover, Keanu Reeves who is in the lead for the John Wick series has already experienced shooting back-to-back in his Matrix franchise where he shot Matrix: Reloaded and Matrix: Revolutions (parts 2 and 3 of that franchise) from March 2001 to August 2002 consecutively as well. Like other sequels, this is expected to be a huge hit as well.
