Keanu Reeves’ ‘John Wick 3’ Is Still Doing Well For Lionsgate

There’s still a good chance that David Leitch’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw will surpass the $171 million domestic cume of Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum within the next week or so.

The third John Wick movie is already a super hit, while the Fast and Furious spin-off is a hit no matter if it’ll end up well below $200 million domestic. That said, Lionsgate has yet another significant milestone for the Keanu Reeves/Halle Berry action sequel. This time it will be related to post-theatrical business.

The $75 million threequels that earned $171 million domestic and $321 million worldwide in theatres so far, sold three million units in combined packaged media (DVD, Blu-ray, 4K HD), EST and Video on Demand rentals.

The studio claims it earned around $250 million in domestic grosses, which is set to be Lionsgate’s biggest-selling release in five years, since Jennifer Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I in August of 2015. That threequel earned $338 million domestic and $755 million worldwide in theatres in 2014-15.

However, there is a high possibility that Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 could be at least as big as Parabellum when it will open in theatres on May 21, 2021.

So far, John Wick: Chapter 3 earned $171 million domestic and $321 million worldwide. It is Lionsgate’s biggest non-Hunger Games/Twilight domestic grosser movie so far and their second-biggest (just behind Fahrenheit 9/11’s $173 million adjusted-gross from a $119 million cume in 2004) as well.

Even it is their fourth-biggest non-Hunger Games/Twilight earner movie behind Now You See Me 2 ($334 million), Now You See Me ($351 million) and La La Land ($446 million). It has achieved unprecedented a great boost from John Wick ($43 million domestic and $88 million worldwide) to Chapter 2 ($92 million/$172 million) to Parabellum ($171 million/$321 million). It is expected that the movie will break all the barriers very soon.
