John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum Becomes A Huge Box Office Success

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has already arrived on DVD, Blu-ray and priced-to-rent VOD in this morning and the $75 million-budgeted Keanu Reeves action-packed movie opened with $56 million in mid-May, $171 million domestic, +86% from its predecessor’s $92 million domestic cume, which became +113% from the original John Wick’s $43 million domestic gross in October of 2014.
The threequel earned $321 million worldwide so far which is up to 86% from John Wick: Chapter Two’s $172 million cume in 2017 and 3.6x the $88 million which John Wick earned in 2014. In terms of the growth for these franchises, this was unbelievable.

Although the John Wick franchise didn’t start that high and there was room to grow. The sequels often peak on the second installment and end up with threequels. In these sequels, John Wick jumped more than some of the films like Lord of the Rings trilogy ($317 million to $341 million to $377 million), the initial X-Men trilogy ($157 million to $214 million to $235 million) and the first three Bourne movie franchises ($128 million to $152 million to $227 million).

Even, John Wick: Chapter 3 film jumped higher from its second one, John Wick: Chapter 2 than Captain America: Civil War (+57% from The Winter Soldier’s $259 million gross thanks to turning it into Avengers 2.5), Thor: Ragnarok (+56% from The Dark World’s $206 million total) and Skyfall (+81% from Quantum of Solace’s $167 million gross).

Although it is still a question whether John Wick: Chapter 4 can be the franchises of Mission: Impossible, Fast & Furious and (on TV) the likes of 24 and The X-Files. It is expected the movie will be a blockbuster as well.
