Manchester United legend Paul Scholes called on the former Australia international Mark Bosnich and labeled him as the worst signing in the club’s history. “He’s knackered and I never realized he couldn’t kick a football,” said Scholes.
Scholes Calls Bosnich Unprofessional
“I thought he was a good keeper at Aston Villa, but he came to us, he was so unprofessional. Honestly, it was ridiculous. In shooting practice, you normally have like 15/20 shots. But after three shots, he’s knackered and I never realised, he couldn’t kick a football,” said Paul Scholes in a recent interaction on The Overlap, reported by Sportskeeda.
Scholes won 25 trophies, including 11 Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and two UEFA Champions League titles. He is regarded as one of the most renowned midfielders of his generation and one of the greatest Manchester United players.
The 11-time Premier League winner Scholes claimed that Bosnich was notably poor at both shot-stopping and kicking.
“Honestly, I’d never seen anything like it. We played Everton in the first game of the [1999-00] season and none of us picked up on it, but he couldn’t even reach the halfway line. There was no wind. It was a perfect day,” Scholes added.
Represented Australia For 17 Times
Bosnich has played in England for the Premier League under clubs including Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea. He has represented Australia 17 times as a player. Moreover, in 1990 he started his senior career at Manchester United.
Moreover, he helped Manchester United win one Premier League title and one Intercontinental Cup. During his time at the club, he managed to keep 15 clean sheets and conceded 38 goals across all competitions.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster revealed on the Squeaky Bum Time podcast, that why he disliked training with legendary defender Nemanja Vidic.
“Just talking about Nemanja… off the pitch, he was fairly quiet wasn’t he. But on the pitch, in training, that guy was a scary bloke, honestly. Horrible, honestly he did not care. If we were playing a five-a-side or six-a-side or something, if you were on his team, I used to think: ‘Please don’t be on Nemanja’s team, please don’t’,” said Ben Foster.
