Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug, 31, sustained an injury on international duty, and will now not be present for West Ham United’s clash at Fulham in the Premier League.
“Achilles Tendon At The Bottom”
He left the lineup for the 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in Amsterdam due to suffering from a calf strain on Tuesday, September 10.
Before the start of the match, the German camp sent Fullkrug back to his club in London.
“It’s nothing serious. Unfortunately, the area is a bit problematic because it’s the transition to the Achilles tendon at the bottom of the calf,” Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann stated, as reported by Sportstar.
The German professional footballer, Niclas Fullkrug plays as a forward for Premier League club West Ham United and the Germany national team. He began his senior career with the club’s reserves.
Moreover, he has also represented at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2024 in November 2022.
Sent Back To His Club
Fullkrug was sent back as a precautionary measure to avoid any serious future consequences that could cause him trouble
“If something were to happen, it would be long-term. That’s why we’re not taking any risks,” added Nagelsmann.
“He will have to take a few days off. He will not be playing in the Premier League at the weekend,” he further stated.
Fullkrug has spent eight years with TuS Ricklingen in the Ricklingen district of Hanover, scoring an average of 160 goals per season.
In summer 2018, Borussia Monchengladbach offered €18 million for Fullkrug and also received offers from English clubs. But, Hannover decided to keep Fullkrug and he had agreed to a contract extension until 2022.
Fullkrug started in Germany’s 5-0 Nations League claimed victory over Hungary in Düsseldorf last Saturday, where he scored the opening goal. However, he still needs to find the net for his new English club following three matches this season.
