Mumbai City FC announced Lallianzuala Chhangte as their new senior squad captain for the 2024-25 season, and the Indian Super League (ISL) club announced it on Sunday.

One Of The Promising Players 

“We are thrilled to announce Lallianzuala Chhangte as the new captain ahead of the 2024-25 season,” said as per a media release by MCFC, reported Lokmat Times. 

Since becoming part of the Islanders in January 2022, Chhangte has performed amazingly well. He has amassed 29 goals and 16 assists over 79 appearances. Moreover, In the 2023-24 ISL season, he made 16 goals (10 goals and six assists) and became the first Indian player in ISL history to record over 15 goal contributions in consecutive seasons.

Lallianzuala Chhangte is a prominent Indian footballer who plays as a forward. Born on 8 June 1997, Chhangte is best known for his speed and goal-scoring ability. He began his professional career with NorthEast United FC before moving to Delhi Dynamos (now Odisha FC), where he quickly became one of the league’s standout Indian players.

In 2020, Chhangte joined Mumbai City FC, where he continued to excel, becoming a key player for the team. He gained a huge reputation as one of India’s most exciting football talents. Moreover, he made his international debut in 2015 and won the 2022-23 AIFF Men’s Player of the Year award. 

Replaces Rahul Bheke

He took over as captain from Rahul Bheke. Bheke, last season, returned to Bengaluru FC after leading the team to the ISL trophy.

In March 2016, Lallianzuala along with teammate, Jerry Mawuhmingthanga trained at Liverpool’s youth academy at Kirkby as the youth coach was impressed at DSK’s LFC academy in India. 

Mumbai City FC will start their ISL campaign with a repeat of last season’s final as they are traveling to Kolkata to play against Mohun Bagan Super Giant at the Salt Lake Stadium on September 13.
