Few interesting facts about Mickey Mouse

Everyone’s favourite the iconic Mickey Mouse turns 91 today. 90 years ago they made their big debut in the form of an animated movie “Steamboat Willie” in New York on November 18, 1928.
This is one of those characters which has been binding the generations together more than any other cartoon characters.

Here are a few interesting facts about Mickey Mouse:

1. Mickey Mouse became a hit in no time on November 18, 1928, with the release of Steamboat Willie, the first-ever animated movie with synchronized sound.

2. This became the first cartoon character which has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 18, 1978, in the honour of his 50th anniversary.

3. One of its famous products is the Mickey Mouse wristwatch. The first one was made by the Ingersoll-Waterbury company in 1933, and it was sold for USD 2.95 as well.

4. In 1932, Walt Disney received a special Academy Award for the creation of Mickey Mouse.

5. Mickey Mouse appeared in colour for the first time in “The Band Concert,” which was premiered on February 23, 1935.

6. In 1940, Mickey Mouse made its debut in a feature film in Fantasia where Sorcerer’s Apprentice was one of his most famous roles ever.

7. In 1955, Mickey Mouse made his debut on television in The Mickey Mouse Club television show.

8. This famous cartoon character first made an appearance on Indian television in the 90’s on Doordarshan via ‘Disney Hour’. Later in 2004 when Disney Channel launched in India, everyone got to watch their favourite cartoon on Disney.

9. So far, Mickey Mouse has appeared in more than 120 animated titles alongside Mickey Mouse animated shorts, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Mickey and the Roadster Racers on Disney Channel and Disney Junior also.

10. Walt Disney came up with the idea of Mickey Mouse while he was on a train from New York to Hollywood. Walt Disney gave his voice on the character Mickey Mouse from 1928 to 1947, he was the architect behind the mouse in every way.
