Just 24 hours after her adoptive daughter’s sudden death at the age of 29. Ballerina Michaela DePrince’s mother, Elaine ‘Mamma E’ DePrince, tragically passed away. According to a Facebook post from family spokesperson Jessica Volinski, Elaine died on September 11, the day following Michaela’s death.

“Her Mother Elaine Died During A Routine Procedure”

“The last few days have been even more difficult than most people realize because the family has also been dealing with the death of Michaela’s adoptive mother Elaine DePrince,” Volinski wrote, reported by Wion News.

Elaine passed away during a routine health procedure, just before the surgery was set to begin.

“Her mother Elaine died during a routine procedure in preparation for surgery on September 11th. Michaela died before Elaine and Elaine did not know of Michaela’s passing at the time of her procedure,” Volinski stated.

She further added that the two tragic deaths aren’t related.

“As unbelievable as it may seem, the two deaths were completely unrelated. The only way we can make sense of the senseless is that Elaine, who had already lost three children many years ago, was by the grace of God spared the pain of experiencing the loss of a fourth child,” she added.

Volinski mentioned that the family is currently enduring an “unimaginably painful” period.

Volinski said that the family is going through an “unimaginably painful” time right now. “We continue to ask for privacy and appreciate you directing anyone sharing incorrect information and speculation to this post,” she said.

The Reason Of Death Remains Unknown

The cause of the young dancer’s unexpected death remains unknown. Michaela rose to fame by sharing her journey as an orphan who fled violence in Sierra Leone and went on to become a globally acclaimed ballerina.

Fans described her final Instagram post as eerie, where she appeared in an all-black outfit, accompanied by a peace sign emoji in the caption. The post was also connected to Khalid’s song “Better,” featuring the lyrics: “Nothing feels better than this, nothing feels better.”

Elaine and Charles DePrince adopted Michaela when she was four years old. The DePrince family has 11 children in total, with nine of them being adopted.
