Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father talks about his daughter’s significant snub at the Country Music Awards. He believes race played a major role in not getting selected for any nominations at the prestigious award ceremony.

“They Don’t Vote Based On Ability”

“There’s more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievements, it’s still sometimes a white and black thing,” he told TMZ.

Mathew also noted that at the 2015 CMA Awards, Beyoncé’s performance with the Dixie Chicks was not a good experience. He said that her inclusion “didn’t go over so well” and that “the CMAs never apologized to Bey”.

In the end, he also claimed that CMA voters are racist, however, he feels her snub “speaks for itself”.

Cowboy Carter reached the top of the country charts and spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 album list. It has marked a historic first for a Black woman in country music. Despite this achievement, the CMAs award nominations to other pop crossover artists like Post Malone and Shaboozey, and refused to recognize Cowboy Carter’s nominations in any category.

Beyoncé is a famous American singer, songwriter, and performer. She has gained success across various genres, including pop, R&B, and country. Her most successful songs on the Billboard Hot 100 include Crazy in Love, Baby Boy, Check On It and many more.

CMAs Faced Criticism

In 2016, the CMAs faced criticism from country music fans for allowing Beyoncé to perform “Daddy Lessons,” a country song from her album Lemonade with The Chicks. While some fans cheered, some netizens questioned the decision to have Beyoncé on stage at the ceremony.

The singer posted a statement on Instagram, talking about her 2016 experience that inspired her to make her first country album.

“Cowboy Carter took more than five years to make and was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t,” the post says, reported by Wion.
