On royal family’s social media account, managed by King Charles’ office at Buckingham Palace, shared a post of Prince Harry celebrating his milestone birthday with a caption that reads, ” Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!,” reported by People.
Moreover, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted the royal family’s post on their Instagram stories and X with a caption that said, “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to the Duke of Sussex.”
The posts marking Harry’s birthday are surprising because public birthday greetings are typically reserved for working royals. Given the strained relationship between Harry and his family, these messages are being interpreted by many as a possible olive branch from King Charles and Prince William.
According to People, Prince Harry’s attempts to connect with his father and brother went unanswered and ignored. Despite the rift being described as “very bad,” the royal insider mentioned that it is not considered “irreparable.”

After Queen Elizabeth’s death in September 2022, the brothers were last seen united with their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, when they met mourners outside Windsor Castle.
At King Charles’s coronation in May 2023, Harry was positioned two rows behind William and his family, while Meghan stayed in the U.S. to celebrate their eldest child, Prince Archie’s birthday.
Additionally, When Prince Harry returned to the U.K. in May 2024 for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, he did not meet with either King Charles or Prince William. Harry’s spokesperson cited the sovereign’s “full schedule” as the reason for the lack of interaction.
