Black Widow’s Release Date Expected To Be Delayed

COVID-19 has become a worldwide pandemic which not only affects people’s lives but also the sports and film industry. Amid this situation, it was expected that Marvel Studios will delay Black Widow’s release. Not only this, but many conventions have also seen cancelled, production of movies and TV shows have been postponed, and film releases delayed for the time being as well.

Black Widow and the question on its future

One question that raised is whether the movie will begin in the new era of the MCU in May as earlier decided or not. While many big banner movies have postponed the release date, Disney and Marvel Studios hasn’t done that yet. But, amidst of the coronavirus’s effect on everyday lives, Black Widow’s delay looks more or less certain now.

CDC and its preventive measure

To prevent the coronavirus from spreading, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has decided to ban social gathering where more than 50 people will be present for the next eight weeks. Along with this, they have asked to shut down schools, businesses, and also movie theatres until the middle of May.

With CDC’s new rule, Black Widow’s May 1 release date could be delayed otherwise there will be a limited number of people who could see the movie in theatres.

Many theatres like AMC and Regal Cinemas already took the preventive measure by reducing the audiences before the announcement. Now, with this notice from the CDC will further limit the capacity of other theatres. Even if theatres will open the movie wouldn’t get the reach. So there is a possibility of other studios could soon announce the delay release dates of their movies.

Although there are no dates fixed yet for Marvel Studios for their upcoming release of Black Widow, for the time being, staying on the May 1 release date could witness a big loss for them at the box office.
