Nikita Kucherov has stepped into a vital role for the Tampa Bay Lightning as they adjust to playing without Steven Stamkos. Currently signed to an eight-year, $76 million contract, Kucherov is aware of the challenges the team will face and is committed to providing strong leadership.

Stamkos Has Moved To The Nashville Predators

After 16 seasons with the Lightning, Steven Stamkos has moved to the Nashville Predators, bringing a significant shift for the team. Stamkos leaves an impressive legacy with records in points, goals, and games played. While Kucherov acknowledges the loss of Stamkos’ leadership, he is confident the team can unite and move forward.

“It is hard to replace a guy like him,” Kucherov stated.

Kucherov emphasized that it’s crucial for everyone to step up, both on and off the ice, in order to fill the gap left by Stamkos.

“Everyone has to step up on the ice and off the ice and do everything we can to help the team win and ultimately win the Cup,” reported by Sportskeeda.

This mindset will be essential as the Lightning prepare for the upcoming season. With training camp underway, Victor Hedman has taken over as captain, marking a key leadership change for the team as they aim to maintain their winning ways.

Kucherov expressed confidence in his teammates and the strong bond they share. He also highlighted goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy’s return after dealing with injuries last season, praising his positive attitude and stressing the importance of staying healthy.

“No, I think he is always happy. Being healthy is huge. I am 31, and he is 30, and it is important to take care of our bodies. It is huge to not have to deal with injuries and stuff, but Vasy is always happy,” Kucherov said.

Kucherov Remains Confident

The Lightning recognize the significant challenge ahead, but Nikita Kucherov’s dedication reflects their determination to stay competitive. With Stamkos’ absence at the forefront as the new season approaches, teamwork becomes even more crucial, yet Kucherov remains confident in the team’s ability to overcome these obstacles.

With the 2024 NHL season nearing, EA Sports has unveiled the initial NHL 25 player ratings for wingers, ahead of the game’s official release on October 4.

Tampa Bay Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov leads the right wingers in NHL 25 with a 95 overall rating (OVR), following an impressive season with 100 assists. Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak also holds a 95 OVR but is ranked seventh overall due to comparatively lower stats.

On the left wing, Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers tops the list with a 95 OVR, showcasing exceptional deking and passing abilities. Mikko Rantanen comes in second, while Kirill Kaprizov of the Minnesota Wild holds a 93 OVR.
