Manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised Real Madrid’s young star Endrick Filipe for his impressive performance in Los Blancos’ UEFA Champions League win over Stuttgart. The Spanish giants began their title defense with a 3-1 victory against their German rivals on Tuesday, September 17.
Endrick Stole The Spotlight
Goals from Kylian Mbappé, Antonio Rüdiger, and a stunning stoppage-time strike from Brazilian prodigy Endrick secured a hard-fought victory for Los Blancos.
The 18-year-old Endrick stole the spotlight after the match by becoming the youngest player in Real Madrid’s history to score in the Champions League. The Brazilian teenager, who came on in the 80th minute for Jude Bellingham, capped off a brilliant counter-attack with a powerful 30-meter shot on his left foot, finding the net past the Stuttgart goalkeeper in stoppage time.
Head coach Ancelotti was thoroughly impressed by Endrick’s performance, considering the teenager is in his debut European season after a €60 million transfer from Palmeiras.
Speaking to the media after the game, the Italian coach praised Endrick, calling the Brazilian teenager “special.” He remarked (via Sportstar), “Endrick has a gift. He has something special. He has courage, quality. His shooting ability is something special. I was sure he was gonna score even in a short time, a few minutes. He’s special.”
“He, [Endrick] has the gift that strikers dream of, the gift of being very effective, decisive. You can see that he has something special, something I have never seen. And he has such a strong and very fast shooting,” Ancelotti stated.
Scored Two Goals For Real Madrid
The Brazilian teenager is slowly adjusting to life at the Santiago Bernabéu after his high-profile transfer from South American club Palmeiras, which was finalized last summer.
Endrick, considered one of the world’s most promising talents, was acquired by Real Madrid for approximately €60 million to bring the Brazilian wonderkid to the club.
So far, Endrick has scored two goals for Real Madrid, both coming in his debut appearances in La Liga and the Champions League, having played a total of 23 minutes across both competitions.
It will be interesting to see if the left-footed forward can maintain his impressive start to life in Europe with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
