In a report by People on August 23, Italian Coast Guard sources said that the “last person still missing in the Palermo shipwreck is identified.” After the five missing passengers were recovered, the last and the sixth body from the Luxury yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily has been found. 

The Yacht Carried 22 People 

According to  People’s source obtained from the Italian coast guard The 183-foot vessel, The Bayesian, sank around 5 a.m. local time on August 19, while moored about half a mile from Porticello’s coast

The yacht that sank was carrying 22 people at the time of the incident, 15 people were rescued immediately while 1 body of Chef Recaldo Thomas was found later. 

“Everything that was done reveals a very long summation of errors,” said Giovanni Costantino, head of the Italian Sea Group

Among the five bodies, four bodies were found on August 21, while the fifth body was recovered in the wreckage. 

“Those Poor People Ended Up Like Mice In A Trap” 

An Italian government official revealed that Mike Lynch, the  British tech entrepreneur was among the dead on August 22. Although the Italian authorities have not officially identified the recovered bodies, an official from the Italian interior ministry confirmed to Reuters that Lynch was among them. Lynch and his daughter were among six passengers who disappeared after the sinking and his wife, Angela Bacares, was one of the 15 individuals rescued. While his daughter, Hannah, was still missing at the time. 

“Instead it took on water with the guests still in the cabin. They ended up in a trap, those poor people ended up like mice in a trap,” said Costantino 

After the investigation the other missing have been identified: Jonathan Bloomer , the Chairman of Morgan Stanley International, his wife Judy, Christopher Morvillo, the New York City-based lawyer and his wife, Neda.

South African engineer Nick Sloane told Repubblica daily that to recover the yacht, the mast may be removed from the seabed, but the boat will be lifted entirely using a giant crane and a team of 40 specialist divers.
