In the third round of the Canadian Open, Katie Boulter, the British professional tennis player lost in straight sets against the Belarusian, Aryna Sabalenka.

British Professional Tennis Player Katie Boulter 

Katie Boulter, currently the British No. 1 professional tennis player in women’s singles,  reached her best WTA singles ranking of 27 on March 4, 2024. In November 2013, She won her first senior doubles title at a $10k event in Sharm El Sheikh. 

Boulter has claimed three singles titles on the WTA Tour, seven singles titles, and four doubles titles on the  ITF Women’s Circuit. Moreover, in March 2014 she was ranked the No. 10 junior tennis player in the world. In addition, she was coached by Jeremy Bates, Nigel Sears, and Mark Taylor.

An Encouraging Performance With US Open

The second seed from Belarus claimed a  6-3 6-3 in one hour 23 minutes, However, Boulter produced an encouraging performance with the US Open just two weeks ahead. The 28-year-old Boulter created four break points against the world number three in Toronto but was unable to convert any.

At the Olympic Games, Boulter reached the quarter-finals in the women’s doubles. She will play her final warm-up tournament before the US Open at next week’s Cincinnati Open. Coco Gauff, the top American seed is also out of the Toronto event as she lost 6-4 6-1 against Diana Shnaider of Russia.

The defending US Open champion was knocked out in 70 minutes by the world number 66 and acknowledged she struggled physically and mentally.

“I Question Whether I Should Have Played Or Not”

“Sometimes I question whether I should have played or not,” Gauff said.

“But at the end of the day I wanted to test myself and see how I would do being mentally tired a little bit and physically fatigued, she added

“I didn’t have high expectations, but I wish I could have competed better, even if it resulted in a loss. I don’t think I competed well,” Gauff concluded.
