USA Team gymnastics made history as Simone Biles won her second of all gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and sixth Olympic gold medal overall in the all-around final. This makes Biles the third woman to win the women’s individual all-around twice after Larisa Latynina in 1956 and 1960, and Vera Calabska in 1964 and 1968.

They have won nine Olympic medals with Biles as the sixth gold medal, making it the most earned than any other gymnast in America.

“They always call me G.O.A.T”

In a recent interview on August 1 at the Paris Olympics 2024 the Olympic gymnast said that she was motivated to get her necklace with a bedazzled silver goat pendant due to naysayers not liking her being branded as the ‘Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T).

“It’s a little ode, I mean a lot of people love it, they always call me the G.O.A.T so I thought it would be really special if I got one made. And the haters hate it so I love that even more and it’s just a special part of me that I have here, as well as in the village I have like a stuffed goat, just to get a reminder: ‘You can go out there, you can do it, you’ve done it before, so let’s go.” Biles said

“But at the end of the day, it is crazy that I’m in the conversation of greatest of all time athletes because I still think I’m Simone Biles from Spring, TX. That loves to flip,” she added

Simone Biles criticism

Three years back, Biles received unfair criticism after being pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics Games over health issues. She was being criticized by the now- vice president JD Vance,  saying Biles’ needs for self-care into a “culture war” talking point. The “Hillbilly Elegy” author criticized those who supported or resonated with Biles’ decision by calling them “weird” for turning “a very tragic moment” into “this act of heroism.”

“And I think it reflects pretty poorly on our sort of therapeutic society that we try to praise people not for moments of strength, not for moments of heroism, but for their weakest moments,” JD Vance stated.
