5 Things You Need To Know About Alexandra Grant

After nearly two decades Keanu Reeves was seen with his girlfriend Alexandra Grant on the red carpet of LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. Although they have come together in public for the first time, they have known each other for a decade. In 2011, they first collaborated on Reeves’ first book, Ode to Happiness and then they teamed up again for the book – Shadows.

Here are the things you need to know about the artist:

Text and language inspires her art

She is referred to as “a text-based artist who uses language and networks of words as the basis for her work in painting, drawing and sculpture,” as per the Ochi Gallery’s introduction for the artist, Alexandra. The talented artist promoted her love for the art pretty well since she grew up in countries like Mexico, Spain and France.

Her work has been showcased in many prestigious museums

Alexandra’s art has been showcased in many museums which included the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Galerie Gradiva in Paris, the The Broad Museum at Michigan State University, and the Harris Lieberman Gallery in New York City etc.

Keanu Reeves is one of her long-time collaborators

Their professional relationship began with books. Alexandra Grant did the illustrations for his first book, called Ode To Happiness, that was published in 2011. She also illustrated Keanu Reeves’ poetry book, Shadows, released in 2015.

Alexandra and Keanu run a publishing company together

The duo run a publishing company, named X Artists’ Books, which was launched in the summer of 2017. The business partners earlier explained in an interview with Los Angeles Magazine in Feb. 2018. The interviewer said they shared an “easy rapport” and also spoke “in a comfortable shorthand fueled by inside jokes and knowing smiles”

Alexandra Grant is active in artist philanthropy

In 2008, she founded the grantLOVE project, which sells a variety of products from hoodies, screen prints to neon signs. They sell the products to raise funds for other artists’ projects as well as non-profits projects as well.
