John Anguiano from AMD thinks that the AI PC is the future of the industry, she believes that it will change how we think and interact with computers. Firstly let’s know in detail about this topic.
What is an AI PC?
AI PCs were founded by Alan Turing, they are equipped with Neural Processings Units(NPUs) and are changing the PC industry. Manufacturers like Dell, HP and Lenovo are introducing AI PCs that feel that the devices process data more swiftly than traditional PCs and can handle a greater volume of AI tasks directly on the device, including chatbot as well.
As they are equipped with NPUs, they can handle the majority of on-device AI workloads. NPUs work with CPU and graphics processors to manage complex tasks, enhance speed.
Benefits Of AI PCs
As we seek more technological advantages for the smooth functioning of the device, AI PCs have highly responsive computations and enhanced functionality. Although it is still in early stages it has gained popularity for its high tech features. The benefits such as:
- Cyber protection: In today’s world as more and more technologies are advancing, data security remains a crucial part. Thanks to LLMs and advanced AI it provides advanced cybersecurity, and AI in laptops will have higher cybersecurity standards.
- Efficient: It is designed in such a way that it provides efficiency and productivity, AI-enabled PCs are designed to learn from the data provided, it provides quick chat responses and can be used for workflows, eliminating the labor work.
Brands that have AI PCs
Brands that have AI PCs are Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Samsung Electronics and Acer under Microsoft’s Copilot + branding.
If you are wondering whether to buy these laptops that provide greater efficiency and productivity then, here are some of the details on the price of these devices.
Affordable device: Microsoft’s refreshed Surface Laptop and Surface Pro tablet starts from $999, providing affordability.
Luxury device: Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, starts from $1,699 and among the priciest of all.
John Anguiano on AI PCs
John Anguiano, Senior Director of AMD, in recent Tech Day event in Los Angeles said “I think having a broad offering, both in terms of processing and performance, but also in the platforms we’re in because we partnered well with our OEMs”
“ We don’t get up in the morning thinking we’re just trying to make the price advantage system. We want to have platforms in each of those lanes, so that customers at all levels can take advantage of the the technology that’s out there” He added
Moreover, as we have already learned above the importance of NPU with AI PC, He also commented about the same and said,
“We know that you don’t actually need an NPU to run AI workloads. There are other ways to accomplish this, but there’s purpose in having the NPU and the AI PC, and that’s really to establish that there are good, better, best methods in how you are going to prepare applications and how you’re going to process them.”
“I think everybody’s kind of positioning different opportunities, but at the same time, they understand there are aspects of this that need to evolve,”he added.
He at the end stated “It’s not just an AI PC. This is the way forward for PCs. This changes the industry because now we’re thinking about things that we just wouldn’t have thought about before, and not just AMD, but all of us together.”
