Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the launch of Copilot Wave 2, introducing a host of new features and updates to Microsoft’s productivity suite. With over 700 updates and 150 new features, this release aims to make AI an integral part of everyday tasks. Powered by OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 model, Copilot’s enhancements span across Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive, focusing on productivity and collaboration. This new “UI for AI” approach aims to bring work, web, and pages together seamlessly.
Copilot Pages and Integration with Excel and PowerPoint
One of the significant introductions is Copilot Pages, a new service for Microsoft 365 subscribers.
Also known as BizChat, Copilot Pages pulls data from work files to provide insights and results.
Users can edit or share this information with their colleagues, promoting real-time AI collaboration.
The service can also browse the web to gather and deliver useful information.
In Excel and PowerPoint, Copilot provides powerful new features. On PowerPoint, users can generate images and create presentations in just minutes.
For Excel, the Python-backed Copilot can analyze data, suggest formulas, and visualize data trends.
These features are available to paid Microsoft 365 subscribers, enhancing both analytical and creative tasks.
Copilot Enhancements for Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive
Microsoft Teams has also been enhanced with Copilot, offering features like meeting content synthesis and summarization.
These capabilities will be generally available starting next month. Outlook, Microsoft’s email client, gets an AI boost with the ability to analyze and mark important emails, providing summaries to save time.
OneDrive users can benefit from Copilot’s ability to quickly find files and compare content, making data management more efficient. These updates will be rolled out by the end of this month.
Microsoft’s Copilot Wave 2 reflects the company’s commitment to integrating AI into everyday work tools, aiming to simplify tasks and foster better collaboration.
