London holds the top position in hosting the most number of Olympic Games. Since the inaugural Olympic Games in 1896 in Greece, many cities received the opportunity more than once to host the event but London stood at top by conducting three times the Games.
The most Olympic Games by London
London, the capital of the United Kingdom, hosted its first Olympics in 1908, second in 1948 and third in 2012, claiming the top position in conducting the most number of Olympic Games.
The first game was held in Rome in 1908, due to the Mount Vesuvius eruption in 1906 it created destruction in the city of Naples. Nevertheless Rome reconstructed the city and got selected for the Games. Although the Games suffered heavily with controversies, it was a significant event for the present day in conducting 42 kilometers Marathons.
The Second Olympics was conducted after the post war era, creating a financial problem for the city. Despite suffering from problems, the games were considered successful.
The Third Olympics was different from the others as it was full of colors with eye-catching sports facilities. London developed its transportation facilities for the better traveling facilities.
First city in Asia to host the Olympic
Tokyo claims the first spot in hosting the Olympics for the first time in Asia in 1964. Many innovations and infrastructure development were done for the Olympics like Expressways, bullet trains and renovated venues.
Japan’s first Olympic was lit by Yoshinkri Sakai who was born on the day the atomic bomb in Hiroshima was dropped, symbolizing Japan’s resolve to move on after the war. Japan has also hosted the 2020 Olympics held from 23 July to 8 August 2021. Also it was the first and only Olympics held in an odd- numbered year. Moreover, new and exciting events were added like Freestyle BMX, 3×3 basketball, Madison Cycling and many more.
