With time, the Esports industry is remarkably entering the sports arena. The MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024 has experienced a drop in viewership compared to 2023, marking it as the lowest-viewed mid-season international event since 2021. That is a setback for them.

Decrease in the Viewership:

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup 2024 saw a drop in viewership compared to the 2023 event, making it the lowest-viewed mid-season international event since 2021. Held at the Boulevard Riyadh City, AMAZON Arena, the peak viewership reached 2.38 million, according to Esports Charts. This is over 1 million less than last year’s peak viewership of 3.65 million.

Last year’s MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023, before its rebranding, had 659,399 average viewers. This year’s average viewership dropped to 406,643. Despite the viewership decline, this year’s event at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, featured MLBB’s largest-ever prize pool of $3 million.

The Esports World Cup in Riyadh faced criticism due to its connection to the Saudi Arabian government and concerns over the country’s human rights record. These factors may have influenced public perception and viewership numbers for the event. The decrease if viewership is a major setback of this event.
