Former NFL player and co-host of the New Heights podcast Jason Kelce shared an embarrassing story with the public as he recalls his altercation with a Penn State fan who hurled a homophobic slur at his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
In that instance, Jason ended up smashing the phone of that particular fan and since it caught the media eye, Jason has used that November 6 episode to share with his fans more about what really happened there.
Jason Kelce Apologizes for Viral Incident
In the New Heights podcast episode, Jason Kelce said he regretted his reaction to the fan. He acknowledged that his response gave the situation unwanted attention. “Me reacting gave him the time of day and it also gave the situation notoriety.
That’s what I regret,” he said. Jason explained that had he walked away, the incident wouldn’t have escalated. “It’s really stupid. if I just keep walking, it’s a f—— nothingburger,” he added.
Jason said he regrets responding to the fan with what he wished he hadn’t said. “The thing that I regret the most is saying that word, to be honest with you. it’s f—– ridiculous and it takes it to another level,” he said.
Travis Kelce backs his brother’s defense for family
Travis Kelce said his brother owned the action, but family must be defended, and mistakes must be learned from. “You had some f—— clown come up to you and talk about your family,” Travis said.
He added that Jason’s response came from a place of loyalty and protection. “That’s a situation you’ve just got to learn from and own.”
Jason was so honest about the situation that his brother told him, “You don’t choose hate, that’s just not who you are. I love you, brother; I think you said that perfectly.”.
