NBA star Dwight Howard is standing by his performance on Dancing With the Stars following critical feedback from judge Carrie Ann Inaba. During his tango with partner Daniella Karagach to “When Can I See You Again?” from Wreck-It Ralph, Inaba pointed out what she called a “misstep” and commented on the challenge of their height difference. Howard, however, felt her critique missed the mark, asserting that he didn’t make any significant mistakes.
“I just think she saw me slowing down and thought it was a misstep,” Howard told Us Weekly. Despite the criticism, both he and Karagach believe the routine went smoothly, aside from a minor hiccup they hoped went unnoticed by the judges.
A Minor Hiccup That Went Unnoticed
Even though Inaba brought up timing concerns, Howard didn’t think it had an impact on their performance. Howard said, “I got the rebound, put it back up, and I dunked it,” likening his recuperation to a game of basketball.
Karagach acknowledged noticing the small lapse, but she quickly reminded him to slow down and keep up with the rest of the routine. Despite Inaba’s criticism, Howard and Karagach received high marks from the judges, who gave them eights each from Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. The two barely avoided elimination even though they finished last on the leaderboard.
A Strong Partnership Built on Trust
Despite the challenges of competing on Dancing With the Stars, Howard praised Karagach’s honest feedback and unwavering support throughout their partnership. “Honesty is always the best policy, and that’s why I trust her completely,” he shared. For her part, Karagach described Howard as a positive force on the team, always lifting spirits, even when things get tough.
