A long-awaited agreement between DirecTV and Disney has finally been reached, ending the current blackout of Disney-owned channels, including ESPN, which is a huge win for sports lovers nationwide. With this contract, millions of fans will not miss a single game when the highly anticipated college football season gets underway in just a few days.

DirecTV And Disney’s Agreement

Following a 13-day blackout, ESPN, ABC stations, and other Disney-owned channels were once again available to over 10 million DirecTV subscribers as the Walt Disney Co. Since DirecTV had dropped Disney-owned channels from its list due to a contract dispute, the two media behemoths’ spat had threatened to ruin the viewing experience for countless viewers. The current agreement, however, ends the impasse and restores access to well-known sports material, such as ESPN, ESPN2, and the ACC Network.

In addition to ABC’s presentation of the 76th Emmy Awards on Sunday and the second week of ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” which included a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, both businesses had an incentive to strike an agreement before the start of another weekend of college football on ESPN and ABC. College football fans who were worried about missing the season’s opening weekend are relieved by the agreement. Now that the blackout has ended, fans can tune in to their preferred games on DirecTV and take advantage of continuous coverage of the action on the football field.

The current agreement ends the impasse and allows access to these routes once again. For college football fans who were worried about missing the opening weekend of the season, this is a huge development.

Blackouts And its Impact

Numerous fans’ watching experiences had been in jeopardy due to the two media behemoths’ disagreement, as DirecTV had dropped Disney-owned channels from its roster over a contract dispute. Many viewers were unable to access popular sports material such as ESPN, ESPN2, and the ACC Network due to the blackout.

It has cost a lot, this nearly two-week war. More than a thousand DirecTV customers canceled during the blackout, the company confirmed earlier this week. The massive satellite TV provider wished to halt the damage.

Now that the blackout has ended, fans can tune in to their preferred games on DirecTV and take advantage of continuous coverage of the action on the football field. For fans who were worried about the possible disturbance to their viewing experience, this is a huge relief.
