Paula Abdul refused a rumour on Wednesday that she has dated Keanu Reeves after he starred with her in the Rush Rush music video. The famous singer was asked about this by a caller while Paula was appearing on Watch What Happens Live in a little pink dress with plunging neckline.
“Paula, were the rumors true that you were dating Keanu Reeves after he starred in the Rush Rush video. Please say yes,” said the caller. “I wish,” Paula replied. “It was like the funniest thing. I wanted to introduce myself to him, I hadn’t met him yet.”
She further said that she went up to his trailer and the door was slightly open and when she saw him in his underwear. However, she was asked by the host Andy Cohen about her dating Keanu Reeves which she replied no.
Rush Rush was released in May 1991 and it was the lead single from Paula’s second studio album Spellbound. The song hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in June 1991 and it remained at the first spot for five straight weeks.
The Rush Rush music video shared the 1955 drama Rebel Without A Cause which starred James Dean and Natalie Wood with Keanu played the role of Jim opposite Paula as Judy. The video took several scenes from the film shot-for-shot and included location shots at Griffith Observatory, a black 1949 Mercury and a street race as well.
The star was also asked by a caller about Katy Perry who is getting $25 million for being a judge on the American Idol which she replied it’s good for her. She shared of watching a couple of episodes of the American Idol reboot and considers Katy and another judge Lionel Richie, 70, as friends.
‘I love them and I’d like to know Luke,’ she although said it in a funny way.
