Jennifer Lopez Reveals the Origin of her Nickname JLo

The famous Jennifer Lopez who has a nickname JLo has revealed from where did she get it. Wherever she goes, fans refer to her with this name and many speculated that this famous nickname “JLo” was given by her fans. But recently she shared that its true origin was to fellow judges Ne-Yo and Derek Hough during an episode of “World of Dance.”

“J. Lo came from Heavy D,” she said on Tuesday, July 21, episode. “Remember Heavy D, the rapper? He would come into the studio when I was making my first album, and he would always call me Jenny Lo.”

The “Maid in Manhattan” actress further shared that when she was dating Sean Combs, her relationship with the Bad Boy Records head made her think to move forward with the new nickname. She added that Puffy and Jennifer Lo and Jenny Lo was showing up in records and she decided to name the album ‘J.Lo.’

However, she had previously said that it was her devoted fan base that gave her the name in 2001 interview with the Chicago Tribune. She shared that wherever she goes kids carrying signs of J.Lo and it was like a street terminology to her.

Lopez made her debut with her first album, “On the 6,” in 1999 and became the headlines with her second studio release, “J.Lo,” in 2001. That album featured radio favourites “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny” as well.

Moreover, last year, Fox News also confirmed that Jennifer Lopez would stylize her famous nickname as “JLo.”

Along with this, she has been preparing for her upcoming movie The Godmother. Like many other events, she has to postpone her marriage with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez as safety first is the priority amid this crunch time.
