As the starting date for Keanu Reeves in The Matrix 4 isn’t far away to kick-off, Hugo Weaving confirmed his absence in the cast explaining the reasons behind it.
Lana Wachowski is set to direct The Matrix franchise with a fourth entry in the film series, starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in their reprising roles as Neo and Trinity, but not Hugo Weaving in the opposite of Agent Smith.
Why does it look so?
In an interview with Time Out, Hugo Weaving revealed about his offer to return for The Matrix 4. But it took a long time to work out a schedule that wouldn’t conflict with a separate project of the actor.
He said that Lana Wachowski contrarily omitted his role in the movie in excuse of the clashing dates.

“‘The Matrix’ is a very different story. It’s unfortunate but actually, I had this offer [for “The Visit”] and then the offer came from “The Matrix”, so I knew it was happening but I didn’t have dates. I thought [I] could do both and it took eight weeks to work out that the dates would work – I held off on accepting [a role in “The Visit” during that time]. I was in touch with [director] Lana Wachowski, but in the end, she decided that the dates weren’t going to work. So we’d sorted the dates and then she sort of changed her mind. They’re pushing on ahead without me.”
