Real Madrid, one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world, is reportedly eyeing an Argentine star to bolster its squad. However, recent reports suggest that they will face stiff competition from a Premier League club also interested in acquiring the player. This development highlights the ongoing battle among top European clubs to secure the best talent, particularly from South America, where many promising players emerge.
The Rising Star from Argentina
Newcastle United and Real Madrid are reportedly vying for the services of Kevin Zenon, a winger for Boca Juniors. After failing to sign a wide player in the summer, the Magpies are now looking for one up front.
Zenon, 23, has turned heads with a string of outstanding club performances. This season, the Argentina Under-23 international has contributed 11 goals and scored four goals in 37 games in all competitions for Boca. Newcastle is reportedly interested in the Boca winger, according to Ghar Banaye O Jogo (via TBR).
However, Los Blancos will compete with Eddie Howe’s team for Zenon, who reportedly has a £13 million release clause. Zenon is a flexible player who can play in midfield as well as out wide, which could be helpful.
Competition from the Premier League
The new season is off to a respectable start for Real Madrid. In August, Carlo Ancelotti’s team defeated Atalanta, the defending UEFA Europa League champions, 2-0 in the UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw to begin the season.
However, Los Blancos’ La Liga title defense got off to a poor start as they won five of their next six games after drawing two of their first three. Despite being three points behind leaders and bitter rivals Barcelona, who have 24 points from nine games, they are still undefeated in the league.
Ancelotti’s team defeated VfB Stuttgart 3-1 at home to start their UEFA Champions League championship defense. But in their subsequent match, they lost 1-0 to LOSC Lille.
