The Manchester City midfielder Rodri has declared teammate Kevin De Bruyne to be the greatest of all time, surpassing both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in popularity. Even though the Belgian is regarded as a premier player, he has received significantly fewer awards than the legendary Messi and Ronaldo.
Messi-Ronaldo vs Bruyne
Messi has won the Ballon d’Or eight times, whereas his Portuguese opponent has won it five times. However, according to UEFA’s website, the Argentine star has lifted the UEFA Champions League title three times, two less than Ronaldo.
But when asked which player he thought was the greatest of all time, Rodri selected De Bruyne, who is a little younger than Messi and Ronaldo. The 33-year-old Belgian international has partnered with Rodri in 182 games in all competitions, scoring six goals together for City.
Bruyne contract and contribution
For Manchester City, De Bruyne has made 384 appearances in all competitions, scoring 102 goals and providing 170 assists. Among other accolades, he has assisted the team in winning six Premier League crowns and a Champions League trophy.
De Bruyne keeps up his excellent play for the English champions even if it appears like he is nearing the end of his career. Ronaldo and Messi have left Europe in the interim. Although the former is an MLS player for Inter Miami, Ronaldo is a Saudi Arabian player for Al-Nassr.
Nevertheless, De Bruyne’s contract with Manchester City expires in just a year, and he can leave the team at the end of the current campaign.
