Louis Saha Backs Cristiano Ronaldo’s Return to Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo’s journey at Manchester United has been nothing short of extraordinary.

The Portuguese superstar, who is widely considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, has been tipped by former teammate Louis Saha to make a return to Old Trafford.

However, this time, Saha suggests that Ronaldo might return not as a player, but as a coach or manager.

Ronaldo’s second spell at Manchester United began in 2021, with high expectations from fans and pundits alike.

However, his time under new manager Erik ten Hag was marked by frustrations. Ronaldo, once the centrepiece of United’s attack, found himself increasingly sidelined.

His dissatisfaction culminated in a controversial interview with Piers Morgan, where he openly criticised the club’s hierarchy and coaching staff.

This ultimately led to the mutual termination of his contract in 2022.

Despite the rocky ending, Saha believes that Ronaldo’s passion for Manchester United remains strong.

Speaking to TVSporten, Saha mentioned, “Cristiano Ronaldo has the passion and dedication to return to Manchester United one day. That could be as a coach or even a manager.”

Ronaldo’s Future Role as a Manager

According to Saha, Ronaldo has the potential to be a successful manager.

While his second stint at United didn’t go as planned, Saha is confident that Ronaldo’s experience and knowledge of the game could translate well into a managerial role.

“He will work out how to be successful and use all his knowledge to do that,” Saha noted, adding that Ronaldo might adopt a more nuanced approach in communication as a coach.

Drawing parallels to former United captain Roy Keane, who transitioned into management, Saha believes that Ronaldo could follow a similar path.

“Cristiano will understand what he needs to do as a manager, and I see no reason why he wouldn’t be a success,” he concluded.

What Lies Ahead for Ronaldo?

Currently, Ronaldo is in his second full season with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he continues to make an impact.

As his playing career gradually winds down, speculation about his future role in football continues to grow. Whether he chooses to take up coaching or management, one thing is certain: Ronaldo’s legacy at Manchester United is far from over.
