In a high-stakes single-elimination match, 100 Thieves secured a 2-0 victory over Sentinels, ending their Valorant Champions: 2024 campaign. With this loss, Sentinels’ hopes now rest on other teams’ performances, following back-to-back defeats against G2 Esports and 100 Thieves.

Sentinels entered the VCT: Americas season needing just one win in their final two games to advance. However, consecutive losses saw them dropping four straight maps, culminating in a decisive 2-0 defeat by 100 Thieves.

Innovative Strategies and Dominant Plays

On Sentinels’ map pick, Haven, 100 Thieves introduced a double-duelist composition featuring Yoru and Iso, a first for the team in 2024. Cryocells credited FNATIC for the composition, stating they “copy and pasted the comp straight from them.”

100 Thieves took an early 2-0 lead and further secured five consecutive rounds starting from round 8. Boostio’s aggressive plays were instrumental in allowing 100 Thieves to secure multiple sites freely. The first half ended with 100 Thieves leading 9-3.

Sentinels’ Struggles Continue

In the second half, Sentinels attempted to counter with their own double-duelist composition but ultimately fell short, losing the map 13-7. Asuna led 100 Thieves with 22 kills and five crucial first bloods while playing Yoru. The team’s success in creating advantageous 5v4 situations was a key factor in their dominance.

Moving to Ascent, 100 Thieves continued their momentum, quickly taking an 8-1 lead before Sentinels could secure their second round. The half concluded at 8-4 after Sentinels managed to win a few rounds on defense. However, 100 Thieves capitalized on their momentum during their attack, quickly going up 10-4.

Cryocells secured an opening kill with an Operator in the third round, leading 100 Thieves to an 11-4 lead. Despite a valiant effort from Sentinels to close the gap to 12-10, they ultimately lost a crucial 3v2 post-plant situation. Bang sealed the victory for 100 Thieves with a Sheriff kill on Sacy, resulting in a 13-10 win.

For 100 Thieves, the victory against Sentinels propels them forward to face G2 in their next match. A win in this crucial match would secure a top-three spot and an automatic qualification for Champions, a significant milestone in their Valorant Champions: 2024 journey.
