FNATIC cemented their position as the undisputed kings of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA region after a convincing 3-1 win over Team Vitality in the Stage 2 Playoffs grand finals. This victory marks their second regional championship title in 2024, solidifying their status as Europe’s strongest contender heading into Valorant Champions later this year.
A Hard-Earned Path to Glory
Despite entering the Stage 2 Playoffs ranked third in the overall standings, FNATIC showcased their prowess throughout the elimination stages. They first defeated Karmine Corp in a close three-game series before dominating FUT Esports 2-0 in the upper bracket semifinals.
Meanwhile, Team Vitality, ranked fourth overall, had their own battles to fight. After overcoming Natus Vincere in the Knockout Stage, they secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Team Heretics in the upper bracket semifinals.
These two powerhouse teams collided in the upper bracket finals, where FNATIC emerged victorious with a clean 2-0 sweep. Vitality, however, refused to be deterred. They battled back through the lower bracket, defeating Heretics 3-1 to earn another shot at the championship title.
A Back-and-Forth Series with a Dominant Finish
The grand finals were a thrilling display of skill and strategy. FNATIC secured a dominant lead on Haven (13-8), showcasing their defensive prowess. However, Vitality bounced back on Ascent (13-9), capitalising on their attacking power.
The pivotal third game on Lotus saw FNATIC regain control, securing another 13-9 victory. The momentum clearly shifted in their favour. The final map, Bind, became a masterclass in defence by FNATIC. They secured a staggering 10-0 lead before conceding just three rounds to claim the championship title with a decisive 13-3 win.
With their Stage 2 victory, FNATIC not only claimed the prestigious regional title but also carry the hopes of the entire EMEA region on their shoulders. They will be joined by Team Vitality, Team Heretics, and FUT Esports as representatives at Valorant Champions 2024 in South Korea this August.
