In an exciting development for the mobile gaming community, esports tournament organizer BLAST has announced its first foray into mobile esports with the upcoming BLAST Bash. This online event will showcase three popular titles from Supercell: Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. Scheduled for October, the tournament promises to bring together top players in a competitive environment, marking a significant step for BLAST as it expands its portfolio.
Overview of the BLAST Bash Events
The BLAST Bash will feature three distinct competitions over two weekends in October:
- BLAST Brawl 2024: October 10th-11th
- BLAST Royale 2024: October 12th-13th
- BLAST Clash 2024: October 12th-13th
Each tournament will have its own prize pool, with both BLAST Clash and BLAST Royale offering $15,000 (~£11,300) to the winners. For BLAST Brawl, the winner from each region will also receive $15,000. This structure not only incentivizes participation but also highlights the growing significance of mobile esports within the competitive gaming landscape.
Tournament Formats and Participation
The tournament formats vary across the different games.
- BLAST Brawl will feature open qualifiers for teams from Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and North America (NA). The top teams from each region will advance to an eight-team single-elimination face-off.
- BLAST Royale will see eight invited teams compete in a double-elimination format, ensuring that only the best players can claim victory.
- BLAST Clash will also begin with open qualifiers before culminating in a single-elimination bracket featuring the final eight teams.
This diverse approach to tournament structure reflects BLAST’s commitment to fostering competition across various gaming styles and player skill levels.
Expanding Horizons in Esports
The announcement of BLAST Bash aligns with the company’s broader strategy to diversify its esports offerings. Known for organizing high-profile events in games like Counter-Strike and Dota 2, this move into mobile gaming indicates a recognition of the growing popularity of mobile titles among gamers worldwide.
While Supercell’s esports scene may be considered more niche compared to other circuits such as Rainbow Six Siege or Counter-Strike, it has a dedicated following. The annual Brawl Stars World Finals has been a highlight since its inception in 2019 and is set to take place this November in Helsinki, Finland.
