Netflix has officially dropped the first teaser for Stranger Things Season 5, marking the beginning of the end for the fan-favourite show.
Released on Stranger Things Day (Nov. 6), the teaser confirms that the final season will premiere in 2025. In addition, fans can look forward to an eight-episode lineup, with titles like “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of ___,” “The Turnbow Trap,” and the finale, “The Rightside Up.”
The upcoming season takes place in the Fall of 1987, one year after the events of Season 4, which occurred in the Spring of 1986. With production having started in January.
The Stranger Things creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, hinted that they’re “about halfway through filming.” They assured fans that the upcoming season will be a memorable close to the iconic series.
The Cast Reflects on an Emotional Final Season
Season 5 has stirred deep emotions among the cast, many of whom grew up on set. As Millie Bobby Brown, now 20, reflected, “I started when I was 10… It feels very weird.”
Sadie Sink, also 22, added that the cast is “sasavouringvery single moment,” knowing these are their final scenes together. Gaten Matarazzo, another original cast member, echoed her sentiments, calling the show “home” after spending half his life in Hawkins.
David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, gave fans a taste of what’s to come in the emotional finale. Recalling a recent table read, Harbour shared that “people started crying” halfway through, with the last 20 minutes bringing “uncontrollable” tears. According to him, the cast’s journey mirrors the series’ end, which has added to the powerful, nostalgic feeling around the final episodes.
New Faces, Big Promises, and the Story’s End
In addition to the returning cast, Season 5 will introduce several new faces. Actors Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux join in unnamed roles, adding fresh energy to the series’ grand conclusion.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, Harbour teased that this season “feels bigger” than anything fans have seen before. Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Natalia Dyer, and other returning stars promise to bring back familiar chemistry to complete the journey.
Harbour reassured fans on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the creators “land the plane” in a way that pays tribute to the cast and characters’ growth over the past decade.
“It’s such a great season,” he added, expressing confidence that fans will love the emotional final chapter. With “onOne Last Adventure Set for 2025, Hawkins’ story promises a thrilling, bittersweet ending.
