Legacy of a Beloved Voice

Nobuyo Oyama voiced Doraemon from 1979 to 2005. The character, originally created by Fujiko F. Fujio in 1969, is a robot sent from the future to help a young boy named Nobita Nobi solve his childhood problems.

Oyama’s portrayal of Doraemon, marked by warmth, humour, and her unforgettable laugh, endeared her to generations of fans.

A Life in the Spotlight

Born in 1933, Oyama’s career spanned several decades in Japanese voice acting.

Though her timbre—deeper than most female voice actors—was once a source of teasing during her childhood, it later became one of her greatest assets.
