Zayn Malik marked his daughter Khai’s fourth birthday on September 19 with an emotional Instagram post, expressing profound love and gratitude for her presence in his life. The singer described Khai as “the most important person” in his life and reflected on how becoming a father has transformed him. The heartfelt message was accompanied by a sweet photo of the father-daughter duo enjoying a sunny day at the beach.

The musician and former member of One Direction celebrated his daughter’s fourth birthday on Thursday, September 19, with an emotional Instagram post in which he talked about how her birth had shaped him into “the man I am today.” She is the child he shares with supermodel Gigi Hadid. “Happy birthday to the most important person in my life, I love you more than words allow me to express,” Malik, 31, began his message to Khai.
“Beyond proud to call you my daughter.. grateful for every second I get to spend next to you, as you become the incredible person I know you already are,” Alongside a charming picture of the musician on a beach holding Khai in his arms, he continued the message. The father and daughter were standing in the sun and turned their backs to the camera.
In closing, Malik discussed the effects of becoming a father on himself as a way to honor Khai on his birthday. “Four years ago today my life changed forever and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you,” he stated.
His life as father and individually
In 2020, the singer and 29-year-old Hadid welcomed Khai. Although he keeps his parenting of Khai very quiet, he gave a beautiful glimpse into his bond with his daughter earlier this year when he disclosed they watch the Australian animated children’s show Bluey together in a behind-the-scenes video with NYLON in May.
“I don’t know if this animation is well-known to people, but I truly started crying at it. Bluey is the name of it. It is intended for children,” Malik said after sharing that he is “a sensitive guy,” who cries “a lot at movies.” “It makes me cry regularly. I don’t know why,” he added. The musician also discussed fatherhood and his relationship with Hadid, with whom he had an intermittent relationship until their final breakup in October 2021, in a related cover story for NYLON.
“From 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a kid, and I didn’t really take much time to get to know myself,” he explained to the outlet. “It’s probably wise to take your time before you fully invest in another human being as a lifelong partner,” stated Malik, who also told NYLON that he is happy living a tranquil life on a farm and spending quality time with his young daughter.
“I only have my daughter 50% of the time,” he explained to the outlet, adding that he “would have her 90% if I could.” “We go see Disney on Ice or we go see the Nickelodeon theme park. Or we go to the beach. That’s how I get out,” he told NYLON.
Gigi Hadid celebrated her daughter’s birthday all week
In the meantime, Khai’s mother Hadid celebrated their daughter’s most recent birthday by posting on social media. The supermodel gave her fans a peek inside Khai’s wonderful Baby Yoda-themed birthday party on Instagram Stories, along with a preview of her time spent at the park and eating cake for breakfast. Along with pictures of horseback riding, a Baby Yoda cake, a craft table, and Khai’s plaited hair, Hadid said she had been celebrating with her daughter “all week.”
“Our girl is 4 today and we celebrated all week!!! She loves animals (fantastical ones too), music, baby yoda, all things nature & bugs, Descendants, anything squishy or miniature, and if possible- will be in the water from dawn till dusk. She is curious, adventurous, loving, and oh so witty ⚡️⚡️,” she wrote in the post’s caption.
