Goldberg’s Criticism of Grocery Store Owners Stirs Controversy
Goldberg’s comments also touched on grocery prices, which have been a significant burden for many families. She controversially claimed that high prices result from what she described as “pigs” controlling grocery store chains.
This remark drew criticism from the National Grocers Association (NGA), representing over 21,000 stores nationwide. The NGA responded with a letter to The View’s executive producer, expressing disappointment with Goldberg’s comments.
According to NGA CEO Greg Ferrara, such statements “risk further harm to frontline workers” and do not fairly represent the industry’s challenges. Ferrara emphasised that many stores face high operational costs, countering the notion that grocers are intentionally “gouging” customers.
While Goldberg has yet to address the backlash directly, her remarks reflect concerns over corporate profits as Americans grapple with inflation.
Goldberg’s statements highlight her empathy for the financial struggles many face, especially as she notes her own ongoing work despite her success. She also praised the U.S.
