Tina Brown, the former editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, has not held back in her recent critique of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. During an episode of the Ankler podcast, she expressed her views on the couple, labelling Markle’s ideas as “total crap” and describing Prince Harry as a “naïve” individual who is like a “lamb to the slaughter.”
Meghan Markle’s Poor Judgment
Brown’s comments stem from her belief that Markle has consistently made poor choices. She stated, “I think he’s pretty much in the thrall of Meghan. The trouble with Meghan is that she has the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world. She’s flawless about getting it all wrong. She really is.”
This indicates a pattern of missteps that have characterized Markle’s endeavours since leaving the royal family. Brown elaborated, “Her issue is that she doesn’t listen. She has all these people, asks them their opinion, and then doesn’t follow it. She does what she wants to do. And all of her ideas are total crap, unfortunately.”
Tina Brown Points Out Prince Harry’s Naivety
In her analysis, Brown portrayed Prince Harry as someone who is deeply influenced by his wife. She noted that he appears to be “in the thrall of Meghan,” indicating that he may not fully grasp the implications of their decisions. Brown remarked, “He’s so naïve and really unschooled in the ways of the world. Being Prince Harry means that I doubt if he ever booked a table in a restaurant.” She emphasized that while Harry excelled during his time in the army, it was this experience that helped him become more grounded.
Brown further elaborated on Harry’s transition from royal life, stating, “In England, they’re going to constantly make a career out of trashing Harry.” She believes that while he excels at being a prince, his departure from royal life has left him vulnerable. “He was terribly impressed by Meghan. He thought that she knew all; she persuaded him that she was the savvy Hollywood wheeler-dealer who could come in and make them stars and all the rest of it. And he just sort of blindly followed her like a child, really.”
Reflecting on their current situation, Brown expressed concern for Markle’s future. She stated, “Unfortunately, she made every mistake in the book, and she’s kind of run out of road.” In contrast, she believes Harry still has opportunities for redemption due to his royal heritage. “He’ll always be Prince Harry,” she asserted, highlighting his enduring connection to the royal family.
Tina Brown’s Past with Harvey Weinstein
In addition to her remarks about the Sussexes, Brown also discussed her controversial past working with Harvey Weinstein during the late 1990s. She candidly admitted that partnering with Weinstein was “the dumbest career move of anybody’s life.” Reflecting on her experience launching Talk Magazine with him, she said, “Well, the Harvey that I went to work for had just [produced] ‘The English Patient,’ so he was the god of quality at that point.”
Despite acknowledging Weinstein’s difficult nature, she clarified that he did not sexually harass her: “It’s so funny; whenever I go and speak at women’s empowerment conferences, I can see that they’re all crushed when I say that Harvey Weinstein didn’t sexually harass me. I mean, they all want him to have sexually harassed me.” However, she added, “He didn’t sexually harass me, but he was very difficult in other ways. I completely understand how people could end up feeling very much afraid of him.”
