Perry and Swift patch up after the alleged ‘Bad Blood’
The singer of “Firework” posted a video of herself singing along to “Bad Blood,” which is presumably a song about their tumultuous past friendship, coupled with a picture of herself backstage with Swift during the Eras tour. In 2020, Perry discussed with Howard Stern the reasons behind her and Swift’s decision to set aside their disputes, describing their current relationship as “super friendly.”
“In life, rumors can travel via elevators, but the truth must ascend stairs.” At the time, Perry claimed that the media had overblown their rivalry and that it simply takes time. “What I’m so grateful for is we did get to make up publicly and got to be an example of redemption for young girls,” she continued. “I always wanted the best for her and now we can talk about the best we want for each other.”
Taylor Swift swipes away the award show with most nominations
With 12 nominations, Swift was the most nominated artist of the evening going into the VMAs. She won in the categories of best pop, best director, best video of the year, song of the summer, artist of the year, and best editing.
As Taylor went on stage to receive the award for Best Collaboration with Post Malone, in her acceptance speech she mentioned, “There is a very clear reason why Post Malone is everyone in music’s favorite person. You are so ridiculously talented, you are so versatile and you are the most down to earth person. Honestly so unfailingly polite, it has taken me forever to get him to stop calling me ma’am.”
Post Malone’s response made everyone laugh as he said ‘Yes ma’am!’ to Swift and continued saying that Swift “is absolutely one of the most kind and talented people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing.” The 2024 MTV VMAs were broadcast live from the UBS Arena in New York on September 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
