Steve Martin has leaped into the speculation surrounding his “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars, Meryl Streep and Martin Short. In the funny Instagram post on Friday, the comedy legend posted a photo in Glamour that featured the three stars, but with Martin’s face blurred by a large red prohibited emoji, because he is reportedly the third wheel.
Fans were quick to respond, with a lot of them saying that it is going to be fun for Streep and Short to go as an item. “I don’t know why the thought of Meryl and Martin makes me so happy but it honestly fills my heart with joy, comments one fan”.
Streep and Short Spotted Together Amid Growing Speculation
The dating rumors between Meryl Streep and Martin Short grew stronger when the two were spotted together several times including cozied up to each other at a dinner at rustic eatery Giorgio Baldi Santa Monica, earlier this week. Their steamy romantic scenes in Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building’ seemed to destroy the raincoat Emma has tried to wear over her onscreen romance with Short. Not that this fuel had been sought by the public’s interest and infatuation, but a representative for Short dispelled earlier this year any claims of romance between them, insisting, “They are nothing more than friends.”
Nevertheless, the dissent is not a sufficient deterrent for the fans, it seems. At the Season 4 premiere of the show in August, Streep and Short were seen holding hands as well, sparking more rumors. They were said to be in “great spirits” as well and were very touchy throughout the event, causing the audience to question if this is still reported as merely a “showmance.”
