As London Fashion Week unfolds, renowned designer Paul Costelloe transports attendees to the chic streets of Paris with his latest collection, “Le ciel est bleu,” which means the sky is blue. The show features a vibrant palette of pastel colors and a new bridal line, all set against a picturesque Parisian backdrop. Meanwhile, fellow designer Bora Aksu pays homage to his mother through a collection that blends nostalgia with contemporary flair, showcasing the emotional depth of fashion.
Paul Costelloe’s Parisian Inspiration
Costelloe’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection is characterized by its youthful exuberance and positive energy. Opening the show with an array of all-blue ensembles, he embraces the spirit of the 1960s while incorporating modern elements. The collection features playful silhouettes, floral prints, and luxurious fabrics, capturing the essence of Parisian couture.
The line was characterized as “very young” by Costelloe. “While London… in the late sixties, early seventies was the kind of fashion trendy capital, Paris was the couture and that was where I grew up in that couture environment and this all remained with me,” he stated to Reuters.
Bora Aksu’s Tribute to Family
In a touching display of love and remembrance, Bora Aksu’s latest designs reflect his deep connection to his late mother. The collection combines intricate lace details with bold tailoring, creating a harmonious blend of strength and femininity. Aksu’s work serves as a poignant reminder of the personal stories woven into the fabric of fashion.
Aksu’s color scheme consisted mostly of white, light pink, yellow, and blue with flashes of navy and vivid red. The month-long Spring-Summer 2025 catwalk calendar, which started in New York and will also visit fashion hotspots Milan and Paris, continues with London. This year marks London Fashion Week’s 40th anniversary. The festivities kicked off on Thursday night with performances and a party featuring singer Charli XCX to introduce a new collection from high street store H&M. Burberry, Erdem, and Simone Rocha are some of the labels scheduled for the event, which runs until September 17.
